Walther Ppk Serial Number List
The Walther PPK (Polizei Pistole Kriminal) was produced since 1930. It was developed for a hidden carriage. The engineers from Walther reduced the length, width and weight. The main difference to the PP is the frame with no back strap. this function was integrated in a single molded Grip. Also the grip was shortened, so the clip has only a capacity of 7 rounds. The shortness was balanced with a magazine-shoe on the bottom.
The series includes the Walther PP, PPK, PPK/S, and PPK/E models. The Walther TPH pocket pistol is a smaller calibre pistol introduced in 1971 identical in handling and operation to the PPK. Various PP series are manufactured in Germany, France and the United States. After Walther stopped making the PP and PPK in 1999, Interarms, which had been importing them had them assembly in the states. Walther would not allow them to continue with the old series numbers, so your number is simply a new serial number series used by Interarms.
The PPK and the PP were also produced very successfully after war. Even James Bond had an Walther PPK.

The serial number suffix 'A' indicates the 9mm Kurz (.380 ACP) caliber on post-war German PP's.
